Absen SA Series troubleshooting
The Absen SA Series problems live-event techs bring to Ask Roadie most (also called SA rental, SA2.6). Pick your symptom, or describe your own in plain words, and get the likeliest fix first, with the manual page when there is one.
Common SA Series errors & problems
What techs run into most, and what's usually behind it. The step-by-step fix for your exact unit is in Ask Roadie.

Brightness or color mismatch between cabinets in the same wall
Likely cause: Uniformity is guaranteed in hardware at a given pitch, so equalizing RX config + FPGA version + gain is what actually removes tile-to-tile variation.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Building curves, S-shapes, cylinders or cubes with SA
Likely cause: Gives techs the exact articulation range and minimum radius so a curved/cube design is buildable before rigging instead of discovered on site.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Cabinets do not seat flush / seams and gaps in the wall
Likely cause: Flatness on SA depends on the locks being fully latched, not just magnet-held; confirming the feedback on every joint removes the micro-gaps that show as seams.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Core spec reference for SA2.6 (pitch, panel size, resolution, weight, optical)
Likely cause: Baseline reference so techs can sanity-check pixel map, resolution, weight loading and image settings against the actual cabinet.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Flicker / scan lines / low-gray noise on camera
Likely cause: On-camera flicker is a refresh/shutter interaction plus firmware consistency issue; matching frame rate and unifying FPGA versions clears the banding and low-gray sparkle.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Indoor-only / environmental and condensation limits
Likely cause: The low rear IP rating means water ingress or condensation from a cold-to-warm swing can short the electronics; acclimation and dry siting prevent it.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Only part of a cabinet lights / one quadrant dark
Likely cause: Quadrant-level dropout maps to one of the four modules or its config; swapping the modular 250mm block is faster than board-level diagnosis and modules are interchangeable across SA sizes.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Panel will not power on / dead cabinet, receiving-card red light off
Likely cause: On these cabinets the RX red LED is the power-good indicator; no red = the fault is upstream of the card (PSU, cable, or seating), so you meter power before chasing data.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Power planning and breaker/distro sizing
Likely cause: Sizing on average current is the classic cause of tripped breakers on bright content; using the 128W/panel max keeps the wall stable at full output.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Which control system / receiving card, and how is firmware updated?
Likely cause: Because the panel has no standalone firmware, all updates and config live on the RX card via the chosen ecosystem; knowing that prevents hunting for an "Absen firmware" that does not exist.

How Ask Roadie helps with the SA Series
- 1. Pick the Absen SA Series. It's already in the list.
- 2. Describe what you're seeing. In your own words, or the error code off the screen.
- 3. Get the likeliest fix first. Steps in order, the manual page when there is one, and a note when other techs have confirmed it.
- 4. Still broken? Tap 👎 and it keeps going from where you left off.
