Common DX Series (wireless) errors & problems
What techs run into most, and what's usually behind it. The step-by-step fix for your exact unit is in Ask Roadie.

"Registration failed" when registering a beltpack, or "F" shows on the STATUS display
Likely cause: Registration pairs the pack's ID to the base.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
2-W LEDs stay red / "no 2-wire power detected"
Likely cause: The 2-W stage needs DC power present; the jumpers let the base either expect external partyline power or self-power the channel.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Base station forgets its settings after being powered off and on
Likely cause: Base config is held by a small internal backup cell; when it dies, settings are lost on every power cycle.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Base station power switch red light does not come on / base appears dead
Likely cause: No power reaching the base means no RF, no registration, and no audio.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Beltpack batteries dying before the end of a long show
Likely cause: Li-ion capacity degrades with cycles; proactive rotation prevents a pack from browning out mid-act.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Beltpack power light will not turn green and headset says "out of range"
Likely cause: The pack must link (register/associate) with a powered base within RF range before it turns green; metal, distance, and 2.4GHz clutter shorten that range.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Cannot hear / be heard on the connected 4-wire intercom
Likely cause: The DX bridges wireless packs to a 4-wire circuit only when the IC channel is keyed and the cabling/interface is intact.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Cannot hear / be heard on the RTS or Clear-Com 2-wire partyline
Likely cause: A keyed IC channel plus correct 2-wire standard and powered line are all required to pass audio to/from the partyline.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Dropouts, static, or hits when Wi-Fi or other 2.4GHz gear is nearby
Likely cause: 2.4GHz is shared; steering Wi-Fi and the DX into opposite ends of the band minimizes packet collisions that cause audio hits.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Echo on the 2-wire line
Likely cause: The 2-wire hybrid must be nulled against the actual line impedance; open mics or bad termination throw off the null and let your own audio return as echo.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Loud squeal/feedback on the 2-wire line whenever anyone talks
Likely cause: A 2-wire loop needs exactly one termination; zero or multiple terminations cause the loop to oscillate and squeal.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Mixing DX210 and DX410 gear — packs will not link to the wrong base
Likely cause: DX410 changed the frequency-hopping/packet scheme, so its RF is not compatible with DX210 packs; separating antennas prevents the two independent systems from desensing each other.
