Common COLORado Solo Edge Series errors & problems
What techs run into most, and what's usually behind it. The step-by-step fix for your exact unit is in Ask Roadie.

Cells respond backwards / cell 1 is at the wrong end when fixtures are butted together
Likely cause: Cell order is a logical remap inside the fixture, so it fixes reversed-orientation runs without repatching the console or rewiring the row.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Colour does not match across a row of fixtures, or whites look wrong / green
Likely cause: Tint, blend and calibration are three independent multipliers on the same output; a mismatch in any one of them presents identically as "that fixture is the wrong colour", so checking them in a fixed order is faster than guessing.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Configure or test a fixture over the network without touching the control panel (built-in web server)
Likely cause: The Output page drives the LEDs directly from the fixture, so a good result there isolates the fault to the console, the network or the patch rather than the fixture.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Core specs / what am I looking at? Solo Edge 3 vs Solo Edge 1 — size, weight, power, output, channel counts
Likely cause: Both models share the housing height, optics family and control engine; they differ in length, LED count, output and available cell modes.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Firmware update failed — fixture is bricked, display dead or stuck. Force Upload recovery
Likely cause: The bootloader on a half-flashed fixture listens on DMX at power-up for a short window; powering the target on 1-2 s after the main starts sending is what catches that window.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Firmware version / how to update over USB — and what the current release is
Likely cause: The .chl must be at the drive root because the bootloader does not walk directories, and exFAT/NTFS drives will not mount.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Fixture is dimming down, shutting off, or output is drifting — thermal and hours diagnostics
Likely cause: With no fan there is no airflow failure mode to chase — every thermal complaint on this fixture traces to ambient, clearance, or dust, all of which the onboard temperature readout will confirm in seconds.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Fixture will not respond to Art-Net or sACN / network set up
Likely cause: Protocol selection is a separate setting from addressing on this platform, so a correctly addressed fixture on the wrong protocol looks completely dead to the console.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Fixtures run in unison but should be independent, or I need standalone control with no console
Likely cause: A master only transmits while it is actually generating a look (auto or static), which is why a master parked on a blank home screen makes an entire slaved run look dead.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Highest usable DMX start address per personality / how many fixtures fit in a universe
Likely cause: The cap is simply 512 minus (channel count - 1).
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Marker lights (RGB indicators) not working / how to drive them for talent cues
Likely cause: The colour channel is a discrete band selector, not a continuous hue fade, so any value outside the eight defined 5-step bands is a silent no-op.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Menu is locked / asking for a passcode, or display is dead with the fixture powered off
Likely cause: The battery display and the timeout default are the two things that make a healthy fixture look broken.
