Common fos/4 Panel errors & problems
What techs run into most, and what's usually behind it. The step-by-step fix for your exact unit is in Ask Roadie.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
"Array Comm" or "Array Failure" error on display
Likely cause: The message means the controller lost the data link to the emitter array.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
"Color Data Fail" error on display
Likely cause: Each fixture stores per-unit color calibration; if that table cannot be read the fixture flags Color Data Fail.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
"LED High Temp" or "Power Budgeting" error; output dimming on its own
Likely cause: When the LED head exceeds its thermal limit the fixture protects itself by power-budgeting (reducing intensity).
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
"Low Battery" error when running on battery power
Likely cause: The fixture only monitors battery voltage and warns near its threshold; it has no onboard charger, so AC presence cannot top up the pack.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
"Multiverse Failure" / fixture not responding (or responding intermittently) to wireless control
Likely cause: A connected DMX In cable overrides the radio, so a fixture that "won't go wireless" is usually still cabled.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
"No Bundle" error on display
Likely cause: The Panel needs a valid firmware bundle in flash to boot normally; an interrupted update leaves it empty.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
"USB Error" — fixture cannot read the USB flash drive
Likely cause: The reader is picky about seating and drive formatting; reseating or swapping the stick clears the read failure.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Color does not match another fos/4 or does not match the expected color
Likely cause: Calibration corrects for unit-to-unit LED flux and wavelength differences, but only in calibrated modes and only inside the fixture's gamut.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Fan is running loud / faster than expected
Likely cause: Auto lets the fixture run the fan only as needed.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Fixture is stuck on the last look sent via DMX
Likely cause: HLL is intentional so a momentary data dropout does not black out the rig; the tradeoff is a "stuck" look when data truly stops.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Fixture locks up / screen goes black and fan runs full speed after a quick power cycle, or output suddenly drops to zero
Likely cause: Restarting mid-boot scrambles the boot sequence and leaves the CPU half-booted with the fan defaulted to full.
- Step-by-step fixGet the fix →
Fixture output is flickering
Likely cause: Corrupted or noisy DMX makes the fixture chase bad level data, showing as flicker.
